Wolf Alice gig review – Newcastle O2 academy 13th November 2017

Wolf Alice are one of my favourite bands around today and seeing them live was something I had wanted to do since the release of My Love Is Cool in 2015 and in the summer when they announced a tour and I bought tickets for this gig I was very excited to say the least.

As the lights went down and the gig began the crowd which had been pretty much stood still throughout the support acts immediately came to life and started moving around as soon as they heard the opening notes of heavenward and remained dancing and jumping around throughout  every upbeat song such as Yuk Foo, You’re A Germ and Moaning Lisa Smile.

The set list was every Wolf Alice fans dream, including  energetic songs from both albums, euphoric sing along songs such as Don’t Delete the kisses and everything in between. One of the best moments of the whole gig for me was when they played Silk which had been removed from the set list for previous gigs but was added back, this is my personal favourite Wolf Alice song and it proved to be even better live than I imagined. Other moments that stood out were Beautifully Unconventional which had the whole crowd dancing and the encore which included fan favourites, Blush and Giant peach.

The band looked effortlessly cool as they played their instruments and a managed to unite a full room of people without addressing the audience often. Ellie Rowsell is an inspiration to young girls everywhere who dream of being in a band with her amazing song writing ability and vocal talent, proving girls can be anything they aspire to be. Wolf Alice are one of the best live bands that I’ve ever seen and I would definitely go and see them again without hesitation.
